MICROMAN 2006 - ASSASSINS VS XADO
Takara begin 2006 for the core Microman
line with two new series in April. There are total of six new figures,
three for Microman side and three for Acroyear side. Microman series are
called the Assassins Force and are based on last year Microman Falcon
Assassin Force concept. Acroyear series are called XADO (in keeping with
the letter "x" theme). XADO is a pun on Japanese word "jado" which
roughly translates to evil way or evil path. Both XADO and Assassins
Force are the first Microman 200X to have all Japanese names and are
heavily influenced by Japanese theme and designs.
XADO
Acroyear XADO consist of AX-41 AcroHidou,
AX-42 AcroMuzan and AL-41 AcroSuzetna. (Acrolady follow their own
designation, unlike Microman side). All three Acroyears have Japanese
motif with Japanese kana (letters) inscribed all over their bodies. The
XADO, like the Assassin Force, follow the same design theme as last year
2-pack, Falcon & Manon where each figure only come with nominal amount
of accessories. However, while the accessories are limited in
number, they are very well design and each set has numerous 3mm ports
that allow for some nice interchangeable with either accessories from
these series or from other Microman series. This show that Microman figures do not need to be busy
looking and loaded with accessories to be interesting.
SETSUNA
Acrolady Setsuna is Hidou's right hand
person. Setsuna armor and motif are based on Japanese traditional
outfit. She is suppose to be some kind of shaman that practice the dark
arts. (The XADO are suppose to be some type of shadow conjurers and
illusionists) Setsuna armors fit well but the joints on her are a little
loose. She comes with parasol that can be used as weapon or convert into
a fans (also use as weapons). Her chest armor fit very snugly but the
clear "magic-flame" parts are a bit intrusive and easily get in the way
when trying to put her in various pose. (Though the magic flames do look
very cool on her). On my sample, the stave pointy part was screwed in
crooked and was impossible to take apart so it was left as is. Her hairs
also get in the way when she has her armor on. Despite the minor
problem with her accessories, Setsuna is a very beautiful figure in her
"naked mode" her legs are adorn with gold Japanese kana (it's a poem)
and her black and gold color scheme gives her very nice oriental design
look.
