2011 the vintage collection wave 2
(wave 6)
hasbro release the 2nd mixed-wave for 2011 vintage
collection series in march.
this wave consists of six brand new figures from various movies along
with reissues of figures from previous waves (vc25 r2-d2 bartender, vc26 rebel commando,
vc31 obi-wan (attack of the clones), vc36 senate
guard, vc38 212th clone trooper and vc41 stormtrooper).
the empire strike back
vc44 luke skywalker (dagobah landing)
this is another variation of luke in his pilot
outfit. the figure depicts luke after he crash-landed on dagobah.
this is a figure base on the already excellent luke pilot with some new
parts some might question the use of such scene specific depiction
of character on vintage style card but this give collector a chance to
get somewhat new figure and cool card. the cardback picture is
excellent that not only look great on the vintage style card but also
very iconic.
the lightsaber is switch to the darker blue
color.
attack of the clones
vc45 clone trooper
this is an all new phase I
armor clone trooper from attack of the clone movie. the figure is all new with
more slimmer leg design and removable helmet. it is another
strange choice to get all new figure since the most recent one is very
good. this one does have removable helmet (which seems to be the
unwritten
requirement for the vintage line). overall this new sculpt is an improvement
over the previous version.
the helmet does looks a little off probably because of the fact that
they are removable. the figure looks great by itself but looks a bit off
standing next to the "fatter" legs clones. the cardback photo is good and in style with the
rest of vintage theme.
vc49 fi-ek sirch (jedi knight)
this figure is a really odd choice, consider how
obscure this character is in the movie.
hasbro seems to really like this character and gives him a complete
make-over. this is an all new figure of the previously release unnamed nikto jedi
knight. he is an all new sculpt with great articulations and nice
real cloth robe (though doesn't quite match the photo next to the
figure) it is interesting that hasbro subtitle his name with "jedi
knight". the cardback photo is excellent and very fitting with vintage
style look. there is variation with lightsaber, some figures come
with darker blue saber.
fi-ek figure also sold with darker blue light saber.
revenge of the sith
vc46 at-rt driver
hasbro love for the clone is pretty obvious in recent
years especially to help tie the product line with the more kid
friendly the clone wars animated series. however it is still a surprise
to get all new at-rt driver figure since the previous version was not all that bad but
why complain, a new improve version is always good. it is good to see hasbro continued to integrate new
innovation into a figure even the one as recent as this at-rt driver
figure. the new figure has removable helmet (package with helmet
off). some of the figures have the backpack pack separately.
return of the jedi
vc47 general lando carlrissian
this is probably one of the figure fan have been
looking forward to, general lando carlrissian figure on vintage cardback
and not the old power of the force card. this is all new lando figure and he is
one of the best iteration yet of this particular lando. the only flaw is the big cape tie
but it does give the figure that vintage style over-size look.
vc48 weequay (skiff master)
this is an all new figure and he looks great not to
mention nice cardback. he seems to be favorite with collector.
may be more weathering on his tunic would make the figure more authentic
but as is he is another excellent alien figures. some of the
figures have shorter neck and really help improve the figure.
later weequay figure has the neck length adjusted to
smaller length.
vc41 stormtrooper (revision)
this is the most unexpected revision. later
shipment of wave 6, stormtrooper which is a carry over from last wave,
got substantial revision. the helmet no longer has the black line
above the eyes (he no longer looks like he's wearing sunglasses), dots
on the abdomen are now painted, and the best part of all is the helmet
no longer have that yellowish color.
