Kamen Rider the First
Bandai released Souchaku Henshin Masked Rider 1 and Masked Rider 2 from Masked Rider the First movie in March of 2006. These two Masked Rider are updated version of the first two Riders from the movie.
SH versions of Kamen Rider the First figures are very details, however the figures are actually 6" in size and they are not in scale with the other SH figures. This is a bit disappointing (but typical of Bandai). The body is very similar in construction to the recent core body used for the recent Kabuto and Hibiki series. The body is very well articulated and the armors fit well and even comes with removable belt design.
masked rider 1 (the first ver.)
Kamen Rider the First is the movie that retelling the story of the first Kamen Rider. The story follow loosely the basic story of the original TV show. While the show have some of the best redesign or re-imagine versions of the old classic, the movie plot however is confusing and at time down right silly. This is very sad since the movie had such great potential with beautiful production design but only to be ruin because they want to turn Kamen Rider into some kind of artsy movie. Whoever produce the show really should go back and watch the original TV show and remember that this is a show about super-hero.
masked rider 2 (the first ver.)
Masked Rider 1 design is based on the early version of Kamen Rider 1 with blue-green helmet and pink eyes. The new design is a very nice homage to the first Kamen Rider. Masked Rider 2 is mostly based on the early version of Kamen Rider 2 with green colors boots and gloves but his mask is more like the later version of Rider 2 with lighter color helmet top and bright silver mouth and nose piece. The figures are excellently made and if it were not for the scale being way off, these would have been the best Souchaku Henshin figures |
