Kamen Rider Amazon was released by Bandai in 2001 as part of their Classic Masked Rider line-up. Amazon was a big departure from previous Masked Rider series. Instead of usual insect theme, Amazon was based on lizard and piranha designs. (So those of you who complained about the new century Riders not fitting the mold, Amazon was a pretty radical creation by Mr. Ishinomori). The story was also big changed from previous three series with Amazon being a Japanese orphan boy who grew up in the jungle of Amazon and was later giving the power to transform into reptile-man called Amazon by a witchdoctor. He was also given an arm band "Gigi" that he must safeguard from evil Ten Faced Demon Galgos who had the other matching band "Gaga".  Galgos seek to combine the two bands to give himself great power to conquer the world. Amazon series had a very short run of just 26 episodes.

Overall the SH Masked Rider Amazon figure was very well done. I was surprise when I first saw him listed as one of the Souchaku Henshin Classic Rider line-up. The armors were well implemented to SH format consider the original design and Amazon actually looked very good as Armor Trans Riders. The masked was also well sculpted with nice paint job. The only accessory that was included was his Gigi arm band (unfortunately not made of die-cast).

GD-37 SH Series Masked Rider Amazon

Bandai released Amazon in 2001 as Chogokin GD-37. The figure was later released by Bandai Asia for HK market.

Unmasked Mode

The core body was similar style body used since the original Saint Seiya Cloth line which made it a little dated by today standard. However, this was one of the aspect that drawn me to this line. The ability to "henshin" into the Rider by adding "cloth" armor costume made these SH figures a lot like small scale Henshin Cyborg and RAH costume hero. The head, as usual was too small when unmasked and figure was obviously design to be display in armored mode. The Classic Riders all shared generic head design. Weapon Accessories

 SH version of Kamen Rider Amazon did not come with any other accessory beside his snap on arm band "Gigi"
